Heading north on the A821 briefly, the Way turns right into the forest, crosses the 'burn of the fawn' and heads east along forest roads. The Way climbs north-east through the Menteith Hills to reach a lovely lochan (pictured above) at 220 m, then descends to Loch Venachar and reaches Gartchonzie Bridge. If bypassing Callander you can cross this bridge for a shortcut that saves 2.6 miles/4.2 km.
